Studio beauty headshot for new model portfolio.
I have not done any beauty headshots for a while, so decided to work on getting a shot for model Dani Dixon to add to Her portfolio. MUA Charlotte Simcox who specialises in special effects make up wanted to do something a bit more dramatic but the tools needed did not show up in time so we decided to go for something more subtle.\r\n\r\nA four light set up was used in this instance including, background light giving a nice gradient with a blue filter attached, the key light with beauty dish attached in front of and just above the model pointing down with diffuser sock and grid attached to control spill light onto the background. There are also two rim lights, one to the left of the model with 40 degree grid and blue filter attached and one to the right with grid and purple filter attached. These two lights help to seperate the model from the background and add definition to the cheekbones.\r\n\r\nA reflector was held under Dani’s chin to mellow the shadows formed by the over head beauty dish that fall under the nose, bottom lip & chin.\r\n\r\nThe usual retouching in photoshop was applied. Dani has great skin so the retouching was minimal.
